I can't run the game!
If you're using Windows XP or a later operating system, try running the game in compatibility mode. Follow the steps below:

Will the game ever be updated?
Unfortunately, 3.1 is the final version of the game. I have emailed Reinhard in the past and he has confirmed this. It is unclear, however, whether new level submissions are being accepted. For new level submissions, it is recommended that you post them here in the "Levels" board.
July 2015 update: Reinhard has stated that a new version of the game is under construction (there is also a message on the game's official website).
Do I need the expansion pack?
No; the expansion pack is just for fun. It contains about 80 levels from the original "Emerald Mine" series, from which Sapphire Yours is based. The levels have been carefully re-constructed and have had names added. Also note that certain features of Emerald Mine were not incorporated into Sapphire Yours, such as dissolving robots in acid. The expansion pack also includes several MIDI songs.
Where can I find the game's help file?
The game's help file is located in /doc/sapphire.htm. If you've installed the game in the default directory during installation, it will be located at C:/Sapp31/doc/sapphire.htm. The documentation includes a wealth of information to help you understand the game, including an explanation of how to make your own artwork and sound sets and a detailed explanation of how to edit your own levels. Any information that is already available in the help files will not be discussed in this FAQ. However, if you have difficulty understanding any part of it, feel free to ask us for assistance.
How can I disable all the sounds and music in the game?
This is useful if you like to listen to music on your computer while playing the game. First, go to the Sapp31 directory and rename the "sound" folder something like "soundx". Next, create a new folder and name it "sound" (this is to prevent the game from freezing when you access the game settings). Leave this folder empty. Then load the game, and choose Settings from the Main Menu. Set the Title Music, Background Music, and Sound Set to "-off-". You should now be able to play the game without sound or music.
I'm making a level. How can I force the game to load the Default artwork?
This is a bit tricky. If you choose the "Default" artwork for a level, and somebody has set a different artwork (say Graphite) in the Game Settings, then Graphite rather than Default will load when that person plays your level. To get around this, you will need to open up the level file in Notepad and add the following line: "A ForceDefault" (without the quotes). "ForceDefault" is the name of a non-existent artwork set; when the game tries to load an art set that does not exist, it will always load the Default artwork. Save your level. The Default artwork should now load properly, regardless of user settings.
How can I edit a level file manually?
You can use Notepad for this. Right-click the file and choose "Open with" (XP users, choose "Open" and then "Select a program from a list"). Select Notepad from the list of programs, and make sure the box labeled "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked. Then Open it. In the future, you will be able to open level files simply by double-clicking them. Alternatively, you could just open Notepad, and then drag your level file into the Notepad window.
Where does the game save my settings?
Check your C:\Windows directory for a file named sapphire.ini. This file contains all of your settings as well as all of the levels that you have opened and completed. You should back up this file if you're planning to transfer all of your files and settings to another computer.
Some of these levels are really hard! How are they even possible!?
All of the levels that come with the game are technically possible. You can improve your ability to play the game simply by practicing and becoming more familiar with the game logic. For exceptionally long or tricky levels, you may want to take advantage of the "Suspend Game" option to save your progress every so often. (Even seemingly-impossible levels like "Blast me too!" can be solved this way.) Also, if you manage to solve the level Bombodrome, save your solution as a demo!
